The first kit in the Flow series — about how production works. Five machines in a line, and each one on average keeps up exactly with what it is fed. You build a panel on ready CMOS 4000 chips (TI CD4029, CD4069, CD4081): it starts a shift, counts what is released and what is made, and stops the release by itself after 128 parts. Then the machines roll a die — and the balanced line makes less than it could, while parts pile up inside. The experiment from Eliyahu Goldratt’s book “The Goal” — on the canvas, with the history from Olds and Ford to Toyota. 6 chips, 1,860 transistors.
This kit is free: all lessons are open, no sign-up needed.
