The sixth kit in the How Things Work series. A plotter draws with a pen, like a person: two axes with stepper motors, a turret head for four pens and a panel with arrows. You put its card into a slot of the simulator’s Apple ][ — the computer names a colour, and the head turns the right pen to the paper by itself. And a BASIC program with a menu draws a house, a rainbow, a flower, a star, a spiral, a word and a spirograph. The logic is on ready CMOS 4000 chips (TI CD4013, CD4017, CD4019, CD4070 and others), and you derive every formula yourself. 26 chips, 1,490 transistors.
This kit is free: all lessons are open, no sign-up needed.
